Start from a ready-made creation

A creation is a section, a card or a whole page already laid out, which you insert in your site’s colors. This article explains how to choose a creation, set its number of items, insert it and replace its specimens.

Before you start

  • A creation places ordinary blocks: a container, headings, images and buttons. You edit them like any other block.
  • A creation names no color and no font. Its blocks carry the styles of your design system, for example your primary button and your card style.
  • Its images are specimens and its texts are sample sentences. You replace them with your own.

Insert a creation

  1. In the editor, select where the creation should go: the page, a column or the inside of a container.
  2. Open the Block Inserter (+) and add the block Lovely Render creations. The catalog shows in its place, in the page.
  3. Look for a creation in Search a creation… or click a category, for example FAQ or Testimonials. All shows them all again.
  4. Click the thumbnail of a creation. It opens at the width of the spot.
  5. If the creation repeats items, set their number with the slider, for example How many cards? The preview updates.
  6. Click Insert. The catalog block disappears and the blocks of the creation take its place.
The Lovely Render creations block placed in a page: the Search a creation field, the categories from All to Navigation, then the Creations group and its first thumbnails, About: story, About: team and About: two columns.

Back to the catalog or Cancel returns to the choice without changing anything on the page.

The Cards: grid creation open: the Back to the catalog link, its title, its description and the How many cards? slider set to 3.

Read the catalog

Each creation has a thumbnail, a title and a description that says what it contains and what it does. The catalog sorts the creations into three groups, in this order.

The groups of the catalog
GroupCreations
Recommended hereThe creations made for the place you are in, for example a home page on the home page template.
CreationsAll the other creations that fit in the spot.
These creations seem less suited to this placeThe creations that need more width than the spot offers, for example a whole page in a narrow column. They remain usable.

An empty group is not shown. A search covers the title, the description and the keywords of each creation.

The families of the catalog
FamilyExamples
The parts of the siteThe headers, the footers, the mobile menu, the consent banner and the page not found.
The whole pagesThe home pages, the contact page and the structure of a content.
The sectionsHero, About, services, benefits, testimonials, galleries, cards, key figures, FAQ, newsletter sign-up and content lists.
The animationsA band that moves sideways on scroll, cards that respond to the pointer or a section that stays on screen while you scroll.

Only the creations made for a place are recommended in that place. A home page inserted in an ordinary page makes a landing page: it is placed in Creations and not in Recommended here.

Replace the specimens

The images of a creation are gray specimens marked “SPECIMEN”, with their format. A thumbnail with a play button stands in for a video.

  1. Select the Media block of the specimen.
  2. In its toolbar, click Replace and choose a file from your media library.
  3. Write your headings and texts directly in the blocks. They arrive in the language of the page, or in English for a language that Lovely Render does not translate.

The video you drop in a video specimen plays like it, with no setting: in a loop for Hero: video band, once when it arrives on screen for About: video and text.

Place your header and footer

The whole-page creations place the site’s header, footer, mobile menu or consent banner. These are shared compositions, which you find in Templates > Compositions. A thumbnail that uses them carries the mark ⧉. Hover it to read This creation uses your shared compositions for: followed by the parts concerned.

Once the creation is open, one sentence per part says what will happen on insertion.

Your header will be reused.Your header exists in this language. The creation places it as it is.
A synchronized header will be created and shared: edited once, for the whole site. You do not have a header yet. The creation makes its own and places it. It becomes a composition of yours.
A version of your header in this language will be created from…Your header exists in another language. A linked copy is created in the language of the page. Its texts remain to translate.

The preview creates nothing. The compositions are created when you click Insert. If you then cancel the insertion, the compositions created stay in Compositions.

For example, you insert Home: editorial, which creates your header. If you then try Home: showcase, it reuses this header instead of creating a second one. To change the look of the header, open it in Compositions and insert another header creation in it. The header changes everywhere it is placed.

Write the header, menu and footer once explains compositions and their role.

The limits of the block

  • The Lovely Render creations block does not save. Left open, it is removed from the page on save and nothing appears on the site. To take up your choice again, add the block again.
  • It asks only one question, the number of repeated items. To change the position of an image or the orientation of a group, choose another creation or adjust the blocks after the insertion.
  • The editor plays neither hovers nor animations. The description of a creation says its effect. The site shows it.
  • An inserted creation no longer has a link with the catalog. A catalog update applies to later insertions and does not change your pages.
  • The catalog is Lovely Render’s. To reuse a layout of your own, make it a content template or a composition. Start from a content template explains templates.
