Embed

The Embed block displays a video, a post, an audio player, a map, a presentation, a form or a calendar from an approved provider in your page. It starts from its address or its embed code. This page describes how to embed, the accepted providers, the shape of the frame and what the provider learns about your visitors.

Embed content

Three actions place an Embed block.

The three ways to embed content
ActionResult
Paste the address alone in an empty paragraphThe paragraph becomes an Embed block.
Paste the provider’s embed code into the page, the one from Share then Embed on YouTube for exampleThe Embed block keeps the address from the code.
Insert the block from the inserterThe block waits for an address. The following steps detail this action.
  1. In the editor, open the inserter and choose Embed, or search for video, youtube or map. Add a block describes the ways to insert a block.
  2. In the Embed URL field, paste the address or the embed code of an approved provider, then leave the field. The field keeps only the address from an embed code.
  3. If the address is accepted, the content appears in the block.
  4. Fill in the Title (accessibility), for example “Introduction video” or “Directions map”.
The inspector of an Embed block, with only the Settings and Styles tabs: the Embed URL field and its help, then the Title (accessibility) field and its help.

The code of an OpenStreetMap map or of a post from X, TikTok or Bluesky carries more than a frame. Paste it in the Embed URL field.

Accepted providers

When the What to paste column shows an address, the address of the page is enough: the site derives the address of the provider’s player from it. For the others, paste the embed code the provider gives under Embed, or under Share then Embed.

The providers accepted by the Embed block

An address shortened by the provider, such as vm.tiktok.com, pin.it or forms.gle, is not recognized: paste the full address or the embed code.

When the address is refused

The block keeps the address and shows This type of URL is not accepted. Contact the technical team if this seems wrong. Write to us to request a provider. We add it if it serves its pages over HTTPS, allows embedding and stays stable. A map must have its equivalent as text in the page, an address or a list of places.

The Insert as a simple link button replaces the block with a paragraph that carries a link to the address.

Title (accessibility)The name of the content, announced by screen readers. When empty, it is replaced by a generic label that tells the visitor nothing.Empty

Styles tab

The block can be set in the Default, Hover and Active states. For a video, it takes the shape of the player: 16/9, or 9/16 for TikTok. It briefly shows Aspect ratio set automatically to followed by the ratio. For a calendar, a map, a post or an audio player, set the height or the aspect ratio yourself.

The block has no Animations tab: to make a video appear on scroll, animate the Container around it.

Visitor privacy

The visitor’s browser requests an embedded content from the provider. For all visitors and with no setting, the site reduces what this request reveals.

The information the provider receives
InformationReceivedDetail
The visitor’s accountNoThe content opens without the visitor’s cookies: the provider does not link the visit to their Google, Meta or Spotify account.
The address of your siteNoThe provider sees a Lovely Render site, the same one for all sites.
The IP address and the browserYesAs soon as the player loads, when the visitor scrolls near the block.

The player does not know the visitor’s account. Spotify plays only 30-second previews and a YouTube video reserved for logged-in people does not play. Instagram or Facebook posts appear without likes or comments.

On a phone

A shape set by the aspect ratio keeps its shape at every width: a 16/9 video stays 16/9 on a phone. A fixed height stays the same whatever the width.

Accessibility

The Title (accessibility) is the name that screen readers give to the embedded content. Fill it in. The Accessibility panel of the editor reminds you of it. Check the accessibility of your pages describes the panel.

Limits

  • Only the providers in the list are accepted.
  • A block without an accepted address shows nothing on the site.
  • A video copied from another site that hosts it itself arrives as an empty Media block: drop your file in it.
