Display the cookie table

The Cookie table block lists, in a legal document, the cookies your visitors may receive. It keeps itself up to date. This article teaches you how to add it, read its columns and follow its changes.

List the cookies in your policy

Your privacy policy must list the cookies your visitors receive. The Cookie table block shows each cookie the site sets: its name, its purpose and its lifetime.

You have nothing to copy or keep up to date. Each time it is displayed, the site fills the table in the language of the document.

Add the table to a document

  1. Open a legal document in the editor, for example your privacy policy. Write a legal document describes how to create a document.
  2. Place a heading above the table, for example The site’s cookies.
  3. Add the Cookie table block where you want it. Search for it by its name or by the word cookies. Add a block describes the insertion tool.
  4. The table appears in the editor with the site’s cookies. Publish the document.

The block is only offered in a legal document. Elsewhere, the site would not keep the text it displayed.

Read the columns

The columns of the cookie table
ColumnContent
CookieThe cookie’s name. A name that ends in … designates a family of cookies whose name ending varies.
PurposeWhat the cookie does, in one short sentence.
DurationIts lifetime in the browser.

Know the listed cookies

The table of a Lovely Render site always counts the first two cookies. The other two only appear if the site uses them.

The cookies of the table
CookiePurposeDurationWhen it appears
cookie_consentKeeps your cookie choices.13 monthsAlways.
SIDProtects forms from spam and remembers the display you chose.Until the browser is closedAlways.
form_session_…Lets you resume a form where you left it.Up to the longest duration set on your formsWhen a published page carries a multi-step form set to Save per step, with a Resume session duration above 0.
wp-postpass_…Remembers the password of a protected page.10 daysWhen a published content is protected by a password.

The lifetime of cookie_consent is fixed: it starts at the first visit and is not extended. Set up the consent banner describes what the visitor chooses.

Follow the table’s changes

When Lovely Render sets a new cookie or changes a cookie’s lifetime, the table shows it right away in all the documents that carry it. The text of your policy changes: the site keeps a new edition, in the name of Lovely Render, without you having to publish.

The table also follows your site. When you publish a password-protected page or a form that offers to resume, its cookie’s row appears at that publication. It disappears when no published content uses it any more.

The document’s history shows this edition with the cause Lovely Render updated how the text displays. Compare shows the added row in green. Find a past edition describes the history.

Edition 4 of a privacy policy compared with edition 2: the SID and form_session_… rows of the cookie table unchanged, then the wp-postpass_… row added in green, with its purpose, its 10-day lifetime and the visitors who receive it.

Format the table

The block has no content setting: its rows come from the site. Its Styles tab offers these panels.

The block can carry a registered style. Its formatting does not count in the kept text: changing a color does not create an edition.

Accessibility

The block produces a real table, with a header row whose cells are each declared as a column header. A screen reader thus announces the column name for each cell.
